Where to shop vintage in Prague, what to look for and why a curated boutique saves time. A guide for tourists and travellers.
Prague has a thriving vintage scene, from large second-hand warehouses to carefully curated boutiques. If you’re visiting and want to bring home something genuinely unique, here’s what you need to know.
Why Prague for vintage Central and Eastern Europe has been a source of well-preserved vintage clothing for decades. Less disposable income in previous generations meant clothes were kept longer and cared for better. The result: Czech vintage markets and shops carry pieces that Western European equivalents often don’t, well-preserved leather jackets, woollen coats, structured blazers at prices that feel reasonable by Western standards.
Types of shops Large second-hand stores (Humana chain, kilo sales), huge selection, low prices, but you dig yourself. Allow 1–2 hours and go on a weekday to avoid crowds. Weekend markets (Holešovice market, Žižkov flea market), outdoor, seasonal, hit or miss. Fun if you have time. Curated boutiques, smaller selection, every piece hand-picked, higher prices but guaranteed quality and condition. No digging required.
